Scott Burson is a 1980 graduate of Athens High School, where he played basketball and baseball for legendary coach Fred Gibson. After a career in sports publishing, Burson joined the faculty at Indiana Wesleyan University. He is the author of four books. Sam Smathers was Joe Burrow’s first football coach. His garage, affectionately known as the Dawg Pound, houses an impressive collection of Burrow memorabilia. Smathers has been interviewed by The Los Angeles Times, New York Times, and NFL Films.
